Looking Businesslike in Your Plus Size Professional ClothingFor plus size men-folk, proper grooming for that professional look is not much of a problem anymore these days, as there are several clothing stores selling plus size professional clothing for men already. It is the plus size women-folk that require much fussing over for more varied selections, as there are different features in a plus size woman’s anatomy that she wants to highlight or hide, as the case may be. With women, the appropriate way of looking professional is a privilege that is not confined to just one body type — much more care is needed by the plus size women, in this respect. For a plus size woman, it is difficult enough to concentrate on work, much more so when she also has to bother over whether she is professionally respectable or not. Is she bursting at the seams and looks it? Is the hemline too short? Is the neckline too low? Does it show too much, or too little, skin? Is it a piece of clothing that makes her boss and colleagues take a second look at her curves? Or is it a piece of clothing that looks drab enough for her boss and colleagues to ignore her presence? There should be a midway in all these, one in which plus size professional clothing plays a major role. Designers and manufacturers of plus size clothes should include professional clothing in their lineup of priorities, as there is a 26-billion-dollar market for this. Plus size women don’t stop working just because they are plus size; on the contrary, they have much more reason to work harder, if you get my drift. Unfortunately, some plus size women encounter problems on getting hired or getting promoted if they are not able to include plus size proper professional clothing when they package themselves. This is not fiction — it’s a fact, sadly. Suits? Why does it always have to be suits? Suits in plus size women are drab and, although it does provide for freedom of movement especially when the work requires reaching up for stuff on high shelves or stooping down on low filing cabinet shelves, suits don’t make a good job of making a plus size woman look feminine. So, unless it’s a required dress code in the office, plus size clothing for a plus size woman-employee should say that she is, indeed, a woman who is hardworking and professional. |
