Plus Size Bridesmaid Gown with Sleeve: Completing the Bridal Entourage

Baring the arms is all the rage in fashion nowadays. But for certain occasions such as weddings, a large woman in the bridal entourage may prefer wearing a plus size bridesmaid gown with sleeves. These gowns are available in a wide variety of colors, sizes, and designs to make large women look even more beautiful on special events such as these. A plus size bridesmaid gown with sleeve adds glamour to the occasion and complements the star of the event: the bride.

Many bridesmaid sleeveless gowns are made with a provision for sleeves to be added; some dress designers make the plus size bridesmaid gowns with velcro attachment or hidden zippers that can be used to add or take out the sleeves, to fit the taste of the bridesmaids wearing these. A plus size bridesmaid gown with sleeves is found to give the big and large wearer a slender look, especially when the sleeves are the kind that taper toward the wrists. This could prove to be uncomfortably hot, though; so the designer should allow enough room in sleeve design for cool air to be trapped in.

There are many types of sleeves that the plus size bridesmaid gown could use; there is the very large puffed sleeve that extends from the shoulder and tapering to the wrist; the type that is narrow at the top and flares at the bottom into a bell shape; the type that is partially puffed up to the elbow then gathers to the wrists; the type that exposes a lot more of the shoulders; and then there is the sleeve that is extra-wide around the arm and ends in a cuff at the elbow or at the wrist. There are many other types of sleeves that would make a plus size bridesmaid gown look more than flattering enough.

Some plus size women prefer the sleeve design in their bridesmaid's gown to fit closely to the arms at varying lengths, as these tend to hide the biggish arms; but some people say a big arm covered in a fitting sleeve is just the same as a big arm exposed. That is why some plus size women don't opt for this snugly-fit type of sleeve design in their bridesmaid's gown. In the same vein, the plus size bridesmaids shy away from the spaghetti strap type of sleeve, thinking that it is strictly for slim women. They would rather go for the a-little-bit-puffy type, or the split sleeves.

One of the most popular types of a plus size bridesmaid gown with sleeve is one that incorporates the cap sleeve, which features an overlapping fabric that curves into a petal-like shape at the top of the arm where the dress hits the narrowest point of the torso. This is somewhat similar to the split sleeve design, except that in the split type the flesh shows through the slit while in the cap type the overlap flaps revealing another piece of fabric.

Looking feminine and lovely in the plus size bridesmaid gown with sleeves is an option for the biggish woman about to participate in that most special of occasions. She will be a standout in the bridal entourage, and not only because of her size. The wedding pictures will be proof enough of that.
